Campaign is off to a flying start

“OLDHAM Works”, the Chronicle campaign launched this week to highlight success stories around the borough, has already started to make waves.

As soon as the “Oldham Works” logo hit the pages for the first time, local organisations were quick to offer their support to the determined effort to promote the town and offer help during the current credit crunch.

And now joining Web Applications as support sponsors of Oldham Works are four more organisations:

PJR of Royton

TWB Architect of Hollinwood

Oldham Partnership

Trinity Mirror

All are committed to the campaign to take Oldham forward.

Noel Mahon, managing director of PJR (Premier Joinery and Remedial Services Ltd) said his company had used the Chronicle as its main advertising base for many years and he was delighted that the newspaper was doing something to help businesses in the borough.

“This campaign needs to get the backing and support of as many businesses in the town as possible. It is in everybody’s interest that we get the town moving — and ‘Oldham Works’ is a great step forward to show we are doing just that.”

Nick McGilvray, managing director of Hollinwood Business Centre-based Thorpe, Whyman and Briggs, is another who believes Oldham can move onward and upward.

“It is important we highlight the many positive things that are happening in Oldham. Of course there will be setbacks, but Oldham has come through tough times before and we think ‘Oldham Works’ can help this happen.”

Trinity Mirror, where the Evening Chronicle is printed on its Hollinwood presses, has pledged support by offsetting the costs of a 32-page “Oldham Works” supplement which will be hitting the streets on July 1.

Chronicle Editor Jim Williams said: “It is marvellous that these organisations have come on board. Their support is vital in making sure we can get the message across that Oldham really is determined to show itself to the world in a positive light.

“We are now putting the special edition together but throughout the rest of the year the campaign will continue to do its bit to take the town forward.”
