Sun shines on their big parades

OLDHAM Town Centre was alive to the sound of music as Dobcross Youth Band lead the Mayoral Sunday procession in style.
The sun was shining as Councillor Jim McArdle, along with the Mayoress, Councillor Kay Knox made their way from the civic centre for a service at Oldham Parish Church.
The large parade was fronted by the Dobcross Youth Band and the local branches of the Royal British Legion, who marched with their standards.
Also, joining in the parade was the Oldham Scottish Pipe Band, local councillors, and local police officers along with the head of Oldham Police, Chief Supt Caroline Ball. Leader of Oldham Council, Councillor Howard Sykes said: “The whole day went according to plan.”
