OLDHAM East police officers went back to the classroom to try out new equipment.
Members of the Oldham East neighbourhood policing team took their new laptop, projector and portable screen to Breeze Hill School, where they hosted a surgery session.
Insp Mark Davis said: “We hope to make surgeries and community meetings more interactive and engaging.
“We will be using various presentations, including advice on how to stay safe when out and about, which will help us get crime prevention messages across to members of the public.”
The equipment, funded by a grant from the East Oldham Area Committee, will be used at neighbourhood surgeries and meetings, while officers will also visit every school and youth service in the Oldham East area to talk to pupils and staff about how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.
Chairman of the area committee delegate budget group, Councillor Roger Hindle, said: “We all know the best way to get any information through to our younger citizens nowadays has to be either through the computer or mobile phones.
“We hope that by using this technology the police will be able to get their messages across in a way that is more interesting to them.”
Insp Davis added: “These surgeries are also an ideal opportunity for people to get to know their local officers and raise any concerns they may have about crime and anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood.”
