Massage parlour anger grows

Around 50 people gathered in Chadderton to oppose plans for a massage parlour on Broadway.
Two petitions already have 200 signatures objecting to the massage parlour which would be only yards from a private primary school.
Residents and traders met with three ward councillors, Jack Hulme, Philip Rodgers and Len Quinn, on Wednesday night, to object to plans to turn first floor offices above a double-fronted shop into a health studio, Silks.
Councillor Hulme said: “There was total opposition to the plan, and the meeting chose Mrs Pamela Wild, head teacher at Firwood Manor, to speak for them at the planning committee, which is likely to be on July 11.
“We will be opposing this on planning grounds.”
He said all three councillors are getting a stream of emails about the plans, and the anti-social behaviour associated with the existing Silks massage parlour in Parkgate.
