PREPARE FOR PILLAGE: Battle re-enactment on a spot that was once a Viking settlement
VIKINGS invaded Sholver Green on Sunday — but locals didn’t have to lock up their women and children.
Instead they turned out in force to watch a battle re-enactment on the spot that was once a Viking settlement.
Members of Charisma (Campaign for Heritage and Recreation in the Sholver and Moorside Area) organised the event and other attractions included hedgehogs, owls and birds of prey.
There were also crafts, games, competitions and a climbing wall, while pupils from Hodge Clough Junior School sold herbs they had grown.
