Youngsters pedalling healthy message

Date published: 26 June 2009

PUPILS at St Paul’s School, Royton, brought a whole new meaning to pedal power as they whipped up some fruity delights using a bike.

Youngsters at the primary school had a go at choosing a selection of colourful fruits — and then turning them into a healthy smoothie using a blender powered by a bicycle.

And after all that hard work, the children got the chance to sample their creation and share it with with a partner from the infants.

The smoothie-making experiment was one of a series of activities taking part at the school as part of healthy school week.

Children also had a go at a variety of other events and activities, including football training with Oldham Athletic, a rounders competition and dance workshops.
