Theatre dream fading fast
Date published: 26 June 2009
THE dream of using the old town hall as a site for the Coliseum theatre is fading fast, with council officers admitting that other options need to be explored more fully.
Moving the Fairbottom Street theatre into the building has been viewed as a key element of long-term plans to regenerate the town centre.
But with the cost estimated at more than £30 million, council bosses have accepted that it might be a pipe dream, and have set up separate Coliseum and town hall working groups, so that other options can be explored for both sites.
