A talented rock band, who recorded their debut album in a Scouthead studio converted from a stable, have got their first break on radio.

LazyTwo, an alternative rock band, will have a song they wrote, recorded and produced played on Manchester’s Rock Radio station three times every day this week.

Nick Bolan (26), teamed up with Chris Mather (22), to produce “Audio Alloy” which features their tunes.

They sent a demo tape of single “Reverence”, produced at a studio at Nick’s parents home in Thurston Clough Lane, to the station and went head to head on air with another band to win the accolade.

Some 63 per cent of the audience who tuned into the station’s Future Classics show, which gives airtime to breaking bands, voted their tune a hit.

The pair first met at the City College of Performing Arts in Manchester six years ago.

They played the Manchester circuit together in a funk rock band and, in 2007, they began to write, record and produce their own material in a stable which Nick’s father David, a builder, converted into a studio.

Now they have recruited drummer Dan Ferguson, who has moved from Lancaster, to join the band after completing the album.

Nick, who originally hails from Audenshaw and was a pupil at the local grammar school, said: “The radio show is our first real break to get our music to a wider audience.

“It’s a very exciting time, particularly as we are about to start a series of summer show appearances.”

Chris, from Salford, who is studying sound engineering, said: “Nick and I work really well together and now, with our new drummer, we are hoping to push ahead with our musical ambitions.”

LazyTwo’s first summer gig is at Academy 3, Oxford Road, Manchester, on Friday, July 17.
