Football club tackles the ice

THE sun may have been beating down, but youngsters were heading for the ice as the Chadderton Park Football Club fun day got under way.
A synthetic ice-rink was one of many attractions on offer for some 300 locals who headed to Chadderton Fold to enjoy some summer fun.
Others had a go on the bouncy castle and took part in a penalty shoot out competition while the club played in a tournament with other local clubs, including Broadway Celtic and Whitworth Juniors.
Organiser Steve Lynch, the club’s secretary, said: “This is the third year we have run this event and it grows in popularity each time.
“It was quite funny watching people on the ice-rink on such a hot day but the youngsters certainly seemed to enjoy it and there was something for everyone.”
The event, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Scotland, raises money for the club which is now thought to be £1,000 better off.
