Band donates lots of brass

DOBCROSS Youth Band raised the roof at a concert — and raised £1,000 for the Christie Hospital.
The young musicians collected the cash through the concert, cake sales and a sponsored fancy dress rehearsal.
The money will help to fund the running of a new music therapy room — to open at the world famous cancer centre next month — which aims to give youngsters undergoing cancer treatment the opportunity to play instruments and make and record their own music.
Band secretary Jenny Wood, who leads the youth band, said: “We think the music room is a wonderful idea and we certainly recognise the value of music as therapy, so we were keen to help out.”
