Have your say on health centre plan

RESIDENTS in Fitton Hill are invited to have their say on a new £6.5 million health centre in the heart of the area.

A GP and dental practice has recently opened on Deanshut Road, Fitton Hill.

However, this building is temporary until a permanent base is built within the planned neighbourhood centre.

When it is built, the GP and dental practices will move in, along with community health services, such as health visitors.

More specialist services that are traditionally offered in a hospital will also be available at the new site.

The consultation event is being run by NHS Oldham — the local primary care trust responsible for NHS services — and will be an opportunity for people to find out what’s planned, have their say and raise any concerns.

Alan Higgins, Oldham’s director of public health, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for people to help ensure that health services in their area are what they want and need.

“The benefits of taking the time to attend a session will last them and their families well into the future.”

Feedback from the session will be used to help ensure that the new services and developments will match local people’s needs as closely as possible and ensure that NHS Oldham can look into any concerns.

There are two events being held on Thursday, July 9, and both feature a mixture of presentations, workshops and feedback sessions.

The first will run from 12.30-3.15pm and the second from 5.45-8.30pm in the conference hall at the Centre for Professional Development, Rosary Road, Fitton Hill.

A light buffet will be provided and free parking is available.
