Date published: 02 July 2009
OLDHAMERS sizzled yesterday as temperatures reached a three-year high.
The mercury reached a sweltering 27.8C (82F) at 2.51pm, the hottest since July, 2006.
But there is good news for people who are finding the heat all too much.
Chronicle weatherman Damian Rodgers predicts a cool-down and said: “Today will probably be the last hot day and I think there is going to be rain overnight.
“From tomorrow there is going to be showers and it will be cooler.” July, 2006 was the hottest month on record with temperatures tipping 30C (87F) on at least three days.
