TINY babies will get their own special quilts to comfort them, courtesy of a group of industrious Saddleworth women.
The needlework enthusiasts meet every Tuesday at Saddleworth museum to chat and sew away the morning.
It took them only three months to make 40 quilts which they donated to the baby unit at Tameside Hospital.
Founder of the Canalside Quilters, Sue Warburton, said: “The quilts will be given to parents to take home with their babies.
She said: “Quilting is a traditional craft and we are blessed with our meeting venue at the art gallery. It’s a beautiful environment and conducive to being creative.”
The three-year-old group has 26 members. Anyone interested in joining can contact Sue on 0161-620 4597.
