THE streets will be awash with colour when Hollinwood Carnival returns on Sunday.

Crowds are expected to turn out in their droves in celebration of Hollinwood past, present and future during the fun family event.

The procession heads off from St Margaret’s Church, Chapel Road, at 11am and makes its way up to Limeside Park where Oldham Mayor, Councillor Jim McArdle, will officially open the event.

Visitors will be able to enjoy fairground rides, international food and craft and clothes stalls.

Shanine Meadowcroft, from event sponsors, Contour Homes, said: “The carnival is a fantastic day out for the family and we know that the local community will again come out and support this year’s event.

“Schoolchildren from across the area have been working hard to create period costumes which they will wear during the procession.

“They have also been taking photos of Hollinwood which they will display in Limeside Park.

“This year we’re also hosting a ‘Hollinwood’s Got Talent’ competition so any local singers, dancers, magicians or anyone who thinks that they have a special talent of some sort should certainly come along to impress us.”
