Band set to go Dutch
Date published: 07 July 2009
Delph Band Club will go Dutch on Thursday when it hosts a visit from a top international championship band.
The Arhus Brass Band, from Holland, have re-arranged their busy schedule on their high profile tour of Yorkshire to appear in the village.
The band is directed by Jacob Wilhelm Larsen, a renowned cornet and trumpet player.
Concert entry is free but there will be a collection towards the bands expenses.
The concert heralds a busy period for the club, when the following Sunday sees a joint presentation evening for the Delph and Denshaw band contests.
There will be a short concert by Delph Band with guest soloists from Black Dyke Band, winners at both contests and Saddleworth and Oldham area champions. The concert will be followed by a traditional roast beef supper.
The club welcomes the fabulous Cadillacs with music from the 1950s and ’60s for a free concert on Saturday, July 25.
