A TALENTED student who travelled half-way around the world in search of eye-catching materials has had her designs shown on a top London catwalk.

Sarah Bullock (22), who has a degree in fashion design from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, travelled to Hong Kong and China to collect fabrics and trimmings for her exclusive collection.

Sarah, of Springhead, carried out research in London and Paris studying future trends and colours predicted for the next two years. Her marathon efforts brought rounds of applause from an appreciative audience when, along with 19 other students, her completed work was selected for the glittering presentation at a recent Graduate Fashion Week and exhibition.

Now Sarah is hoping her dream designs will be turned into reality under her own label with the help of a leading Oldham-based fashion house, Zutti Co.

Said Sarah: “The show was a highlight to a frantic amount of designs I had developed from my trips round the world.

“It had a real buzz and has given me inspiration to go on and develop my ideas and concepts. I was thrilled to be selected for the event — and I’d like to thank my placement tutors and fashion design leader at university for supporting me.”

Sarah’s mother Helen said: “It was a wonderful, totally professional show.

“Each student had their name up in lights on screen as their collection was modelled.

“Just seeing Sarah’s name in the programme made me cry with pride.

“It was a fantastic but tiring day out — I’m one very proud mum!”

Sarah’s boyfriend, Zack Hughes (29), who runs Zutti Co, said: “Sarah has some really creative and imaginative design ideas.

“We are looking at ways we can produce them for a highly fashion-conscious market.”
