LEES Library marked a new chapter with a family fun day.
Youngsters enjoyed everything from face painting to kite making at Saturday’s bash to celebrate the library’s £536,000 refurbishment.
The building has been extended with a Lottery grant and includes a new community space and improved computer facilities.
Dubbed a community hub, there are also self-service machines so that people can check out and return books more quickly.
Other event to look forward to include the re-launch of Lees reading group on July 15 and a summer reading challenge for five to 11 years olds every Wednesday, from July 22 to August 26.
Children can dress up for a heroes and villains day on August 15 and there is a recycling craft workshop on August 17.
