Very shiny, but not so new

ANOTHER day, another garden for North-West in Bloom judges.
But in a green initiative, this is a recycled garden in front of Oldham’s Lifelong Learning Centre and Library.
The rusty water feature which has lain dormant for years has been replaced by stainless steel tubes, which were part of the display created by horticulture apprentices for Oldham Council’s garden display at the Tatton Park Flower Show.
Colourful planting around the tubes is matched by new planting on the roundabout behind the library, near the Sainsbury’s petrol station.
And bushes and verges around Southgate Street car park are also being tidied up.
Another major garden is currently being constructed in front of the Spindles Shopping Centre in Market Place.
The judges are due to visit the borough on July 31.
