Charity cycle ride
Date published: 09 July 2009
A devoted family will pedal off to Blackpool on Sunday in memory of 15-year-old Ashley Livesey, who died from sudden adult death syndrome.
His father Gary, twin sister Lucy, and several Army cadet friends will take part in the annual 60-mile Manchester-to-Blackpool ride.
The family — nickname Team Ash — from Shaw, has already raised thousands of pounds for the SADS UK charity in memory of Ashley, who died in 2004 while taking part in a school cross-country competition.
On Sunday, there will be 14 riders and eight crew, and they have sponsorship from the trade union Unison, First Choice Homes Oldham and Wiggett Construction.
Anyone who wants to sponsor Team Ash can send donations to SADS UK, Suite 6, Churchill House, West Horndon, Essex, CM13 3XD.
