BOOKWORMS at Blackshaw Lane Primary School, Heyside, bombarded Uppermill author Jan Needle with questions when he was invited to visit.

Year 6 children have been busy studying the author’s book, called “The Bully”, and couldn’t wait to meet him.

Jan is also well-known for books such as “Albeson and the Germans” and “My Mate Shofiq”.

He has also written episodes for TV series such as “The Bill”, “Thomas the Tank Engine”, “Brookside” and “Sooty and Sweep”.

Year 6 teacher Jim Leonard said: “The children had a lot of questions for him about his book “The Bully” during his hour-long visit.

“It was arranged through one of our pupils who went on his website and asked to interview him.

“When she met him, she asked if he would come into school.”
