Beauty spot views

OLDHAMERS will get the chance to shape the future of a popular beauty spot by taking part in a poll designed to find out what people like and dislike about Crompton Moor.
Oldham Council has set up an independent user survey to find out how many visitors the site attracts, at what time of day and what activities take place.
Councillor Rod Blyth is the council’s Cabinet member for people and communities.
He said: “As we go forward with our plans for the future management of Crompton Moor, it is important to have as much information as possible on how people currently use it.”
Officials from Pathways Consultancy, who are carrying out the survey for Oldham Council, have now set up a base camp by the main car park.
From there, they will carry out head counts, give out questionnaires and encourage visitors to share their stories about Crompton Moor. The survey work will take place over the next few months with teams on site during weekdays and weekends right through to the autumn.
Results of the poll will help the council draw up a plan for the future of Crompton Moor, safe in the knowledge that it will be backed by the community, protects and enhances the environment and also provides a place for recreation, education and access to the countryside.
