Ambia, 14, has book published
Date published: 13 July 2009
JK ROWLING had better watch out for entrepreneurial teenager Ambia Khatun is after her crown.
The ambitious 14-year-old officially launched her first book “Black Dragon — Newborn Warriors” at the Millennium Centre yesterday.
The book — the first in a series of six — is already available online at www.amazon.co.uk and www.tesco.com
The Grange School pupil finished writing the book last year, after starting to write it aged just nine, and the tale soon caught the eye of US publishers Xlibris.
Ambia said: “This is very exciting for me. When I got the first copy of my published book I was in shock.
“My family came around to have a look. Everybody was overwhelmed especially my parents. We had our own little launch just with the family at home.”
“Black Dragons”, which was inspired by JK Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series, centres around the story of Annie, the new girl at school.
As Annie embarks on a new journey forging new friendships while old ones are broken, magical secrets are revealed and she must decide who she can trust as she faces her destiny.
A fan of fantasy novels, Ambia said she really wanted to write a book with characters she could relate to as a young British Bangladeshi.
The book will be translated in to Bangla and distributed in Bangladesh following a launch at the Boi Mela book festival in Dhaka next year.
