Union Street hit by water burst
Date published: 13 July 2009
A burst outside the Evening Chronicle building led to water supplies being cut off in Union Street, Oldham, for three hours on Saturday.
The burst affected the feeder pipe into the newspaper office’s sprinkler system, and flooded the basement with two inches of water.
Workmen from United Utilities were called out and began work to fix the burst at 3.30 pm, but the supplies to Union Street had to be turned off. The work was finished by 6.30 pm.
