Police still investigating link to Oldham car park shooting
A teenager has been charged with murdering the Salford shopkeeper Nasar Hussain whose shooting has been linked to a gun death in Oldham.
Ryan Manning (19), from Higher Ince, has been charged with murdering the 30-year-old who was blasted in the chest and stomach at Brookhouse Wines, Salford last Saturday.
Manning was due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates Court this morning. A 17-year-old youth was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Nine men and two women have been bailed for further inquiries, and one man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released without charge.
Police are investigating whether that death is linked to the gunning down of 21-year-old Junaid Khan at the Block Lane surgery car park in Chadderton early on Thursday.
Junaid, of Cotton Mill Crescent, was hit from behind in the legs and groin a number of times at 12.10 am, and as he lay on the ground he was shot again at close range with an automatic weapon.
Armed police have been patrolling the area on the Chadderton-Werneth border to reassure residents. They are also seeking information about a silver Mitsubishi Shogun 4x4 seen on Block Lane after the shooting, and later found burnt out at the Ancora restaurant car park on Broadway.
Det Supt Julian Ross who is leading the investigation said: “I know a number of people went to the (Block Lane) car park after the shooting and I would urge them to speak to the police if they haven’t done so already.
“Junaid’s friends could also help us to piece together a possible motive for the attack and I would also be keen to speak to them.
“I appreciate there has been a lot of speculation about this murder being linked to the shooting in Salford and what the motive for the attack was.
“We are obviously looking into this as part of our investigation.”
