Family fun in the park

Date published: 14 July 2009

SHAW’S Dunwood Park erupted in a day of fun and excitement on Sunday.

Organisers promised a great family occasion with everything you could possibly need to keep you entertained — and they weren’t far from the mark.

Youngsters got the chance to learn some circus skills, take part in a treasure hunt, join a guided walk and visit the Youth Buzz.

The activities kept children busy, giving parents time to rifle for bargains on charity stalls and enjoy summertime refreshments, to the strains of music from Buckstones School Brass Band.

Also on offer was face painting, tennis coaching and bowls and many more attractions.

The fun day helped to support a £1 million lottery bid to renovate the 100-year-old park.

Revellers got the chance to sign up to a Community Partnership bid which must be in by the end of September.

The Friends of Dunwood Park aim to get 1,000 messages of support from individuals or groups, which can be done by going to the website www.dunwoodpark.co.uk and completing the Online Partnership form.
