Fete’s fate is in best of hands

DENSHAW villagers enjoyed a cracking day on Saturday, when the sun shone on their village fete.

The event gave organisers from Christ Church, Denshaw, the chance to forge links with members of the community, and parochial church council member Graham Sinclair said it was a huge success.

The village fete is now in its second year, with numbers and takings well up on last year.

And Graham said preparations had already started for next year’s fete, which he promised would be even bigger and better.

“We have learned a lot over the last couple of years and we feel ready now to expand,” he said.

The fete, which raised £950 for church funds, had lots of attractions, from events,” such as “splat the rat,” and “hook a duck,” to a table top sale, music from Delph Youth and Training bands, and an appearance by Denshaw’s community bobby, PC Mark Clough and local police community support officers.

Graham said: “The bands were absolutely brilliant, PC Clough was popular when he brought his Land Rover for the children to look at, and I would like to thank everyone who supported the event.”
