FESTIVAL fun filled Limeside Park during Sunday’s Hollinwood Carnival.
Crowds turned up in force for the third annual event which was sponsored by Contour Housing.
The carnival procession starting at St Margaret’s Church, Chapel Road, kicked off proceedings and was led by Bishop of Manchester, Right Reverend Nigel McCulloch; Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jim McArdle; and Hollinwood councillors.
Once it reached Limeside Park, the Mayor officially opened the event and revellers enjoyed a whole host of family activities including fairground rides, international food and craft and clothes stalls.
Paul Charnock, Contour Housing’s deputy area manager for Oldham and Rochdale, said: “The festival went superbly well and was the best yet. It was very busy, there was a great atmosphere and the rain held off.
“There was a lot to see including banners from Limeside School depicting the community past, present and future.
“Residents put the festival together along with help from Contour Housing and St Margaret’s Church.
“We are planning next year’s carnival and hope it will be bigger and better, although it will be hard to top this year’s event.”
