Abbey receives her award from Maria Podlasiuk
ST John Ambulance volunteers, including three from Oldham, have been recognised for their achievements.
Abbey Timmons and Kate Denny, from Failsworth, and Larysa Lotockyj, were among 52 recipients of awards presented by Maria Podlasiuk, the Greater Manchester County Youth Commissioner.
Larysa received a Diana Award, which recognises “outstanding” young people aged 12-18 who make selfless contributions to their communities and invest a huge amount of energy and compassion to improve the lives of others.
Abbey and Kate received Super Badger awards, given to the youngest members of St John. There are four stages: bronze, silver, gold paw and then Super Badger and youngsters must complete 12 interactive Badger awards that enable them to learn and have fun.
Bob Carter, from St John Ambulance headquarters in Stockport, said: “More than 45,000 volunteer members give nearly six million hours of voluntary service to the public, helping around 130,000 casualties annually.”
