Passer-by pulls crash driver to safety

A PASSING pedestrian pulled a driver from an overturned vehicle following a crash in Shaw yesterday.

Traffic police were called to the junction of Crompton Way and Linney Lane just after 8pm following an accident involving a Ford Transit Connect and a Volkswagen Touran people carrier. First reports said people were trapped inside the vehicles. On arrival, police found that a passing resident had smashed the window of the Volkswagen and dragged the driver to safety.

The drivers suffered minor injuries and the road was closed until 9.15pm.
