SINGING Together: festival choirs entertained
THREE choirs created perfect harmony at Oldham Festival of Diversity
Oldham International, Lazarus and St Chad’s Primary School choirs were joined by professional musicians and local rapper Adam Adamson for the performance of Ubuntu at Oldham Coliseum.
Ubuntu is a classical African concept which roughly means “I am because you are” and the choral piece was originally commissioned for the festival in 2007.
Composed and written by Martin Ashurst, from Oldham Music Centre, and local lyricist John Rowan, the Indian dance group Nrtya Jyoti also choreographed a new piece of work to perform with Ubuntu.
