Passport to summer of fun

Date published: 21 July 2009

THE summer holidays have finally arrived — and youngsters won’t have a chance to get bored thanks to an action-packed programme of activities.

Oldham Council’s Passport To Summer scheme, which started this week, features a host of events across the borough every day during the break.

Highlights this week include Bollywood dance lessons, orienteering, gardening and soccer schools.

Next week children can try their hand at trampolining, angling, badminton, rock climbing and rugby.

In addition there will also be Youth Zones for eight to 19-year-olds to play games, listen to music and make friends.

These will be at the Millennium Centre, Featherstall Road (Friday 6-7pm, Saturday 3-5pm, Sunday 3-5pm); Radclyffe Sports Centre in Chadderton (Friday and Saturday 6-8pm); Failsworth Sports Centre (Saturday 6.30-9pm); Oldham Sports Centre (Saturday 6-9pm); Sholver Youth Centre (Saturday 5-8pm); Glodwick Pool (Sunday 12-3pm); Hathershaw College (Friday 6-10pm); High Crompton Park (Thursday 6-8.30pm); Royton and Crompton School (Friday 6-8.30pm); and Saddleworth Satellite Youth Centre (Thursday and Friday 6.30-9pm and Saturday 4-9pm).
