Hospice raises £3,500

WET and windy conditions failed to deter hundreds of visitors to Dr Kershaw’s annual garden party.
But the event had to be brought indoors with all entertainment cancelled due to the adverse weather.
Organisers had lined up rides for children, dance troupes, a rock band and DJs to entertain the crowds but were forced to cancel them at the last minute.
Oldham Scottish Pipe Band braved the downpour to treat guests to several rousing musical numbers.
Brian Hurst, Dr Kershaw’s appeals manager, said: “We would like to thank everyone who came and supported the hospice on such a wet and windy day. We raised £3,500 which will go towards the day to day running costs of the hospice.”
