Bike advice for youngsters
Date published: 22 July 2009
YOUNGSTERS in Royton and Shaw can saddle up for summer at a bike safety event tomorrow.
Royton and Shaw Neighbourhood Policing Team is holding the event at Royton Park between 10am and 3pm.
Young people, aged up to 16, are invited along to pick up safety advice and tips on how to look after their bikes. Officers will be giving out free puncture kits and bike doctors from Gremlins will be on hand to carry out basic repairs.
PCSO Debbie Gilbert said: “This is a good opportunity for people to get to know their local officers and receive some free crime prevention advice.
“Anyone up to the age of 16 years old who comes along will also get tips on maintaining their bikes and, importantly, how to stay safe when on the road.”
Local businesses, including the Co-op, Somerfield, Wraggs Taverns and Barclays have donated snacks and drinks.
