Councillor Uddin checks out the walkit.com website
DID you know you could burn 121 calories and save 0.43kg of CO2 by walking from Spindles Town Square shopping centre to Alexandra Park?
Oldham Council has been working with walkit.com — the urban walking route planner website — to develop the site which will help plan your walking route from A to B across the borough.
All you have to do is enter your starting location, postcode and a destination and the website will tell you how far your journey is.
It will tell you how many calories you would burn by walking the journey and the amount of CO2 you will save.
You will also be provided with a route map and step-by-step directions for your journey.
Councillor Mohib Uddin, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The website includes many walking routes in Oldham and should encourage people to be more adventurous and get out and visit some of the best the town has to offer. At the same time people will be keeping fit and helping the environment so the website really is worth a try.”
