Action to reel-in our film-makers

Date published: 23 July 2009

BUDDING Spielbergs can take part in a ground-breaking project to make a permanent record of Sholver and its people.

Filming gets under way at Sholver Youth Centre on Saturday from noon and all local residents are urged to turn up and get involved.

The finished films will be premiered at the Love Sholver festival in September which celebrates life on the estate.

Award-winning community filmmakers REELmcr will train two production teams who will then visit local events and groups throughout the summer to record what’s happening in Sholver.

Local people of all ages are welcome to get involved with the project. Participants will gain a real insight into the industry and receive a certificate on completing the training.

Shonagh Ingram, arts co-ordinator for Housing Market Renewal, said: “This is an exciting opportunity. We’re also looking for musicians and anyone interested in DJ-ing to provide music for the soundtracks of the films.”

The filming project is being organised through Participate — the arts programme for the Housing Market Renewal scheme.
