Jenny thrilled with new play

A new play nurtured at the Oldham Coliseum’s writing group took to Manchester’s Printworks this week.
Psychological thriller “The Person Without” is now showing at nightclub Pure as part of the 24:7 Theatre Festival until Monday.
Writer Jenny Yates beat off 120 entries to make the final cut of 21 plays.
Her chilling tale opens with Adam and Walt playing poker with a character we never get to see, also known as ‘The Person Without’.
It is about taking responsibility and is described by Jenny as a cross between Pinter’s “The Dumb Waiter’” and Hitchcock’s “Strangers on a Train”.
The story was developed from writing exercises at the Coliseum and started as a monologue but became part of a workshop in 2007.
Jenny has fond memories of her time at the Coliseum and credits the team for helping her to fill the missing parts in the piece.
Jenny, who worked in biochemistry then a bed and breakfast in the Lake District, began writing in 1999.
Her play is directed by Ian Moore, who has numerous professional credits including a nomination for Manchester’s Best New Play in 2008.
Jenny said: “It’s the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning. The 24:7 festival is a great opportunity for new work and for up and coming actors to be seen.”
