Who will be the Woman of Oldham 2009?

The search is on the find this year’s Woman of Oldham.
The 17th Woman of Oldham luncheon takes place at the White Hart Hotel, Lydgate, on September 23.
The winner, who must live, work or volunteer in Oldham, is presented with the Oldham Evening Chronicle crystal bowl. Last year’s winner was Di Heffernan (73) whose charity work includes Macmillan Cancer Support, the Chernobyl Children’s Campaign, mayoral charities, Oldham disability groups and the Saddleworth Parish Council chairman’s charities.
Over the years, the lunch has raised more than £61,000 for good causes. Last year’s charity, the Oldham Cancer Support Centre, was presented with a record breaking £10,000.
This year’s charity is the Victoria Breast Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
