Oldham shop worker Suzanne Prendergast (below) is celebrating after winning through to the regional final of Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2009.
The 19-year-old will appear alongside 11 other contestants who will be vying for the title at Liverpool’s Specsavers store on August 13.
And victory will see Suzanne qualify for the national final in October, with the chance of living the dream of every young girl — a 12-month modelling contract. The winner will also enjoy an all-inclusive Caribbean holiday for two with £250 to spend.
Suzanne, who entered after reading about the competition in the Evening Chronicle, confessed: “I really didn’t think I would get through. I’ve been wearing my glasses since I was little and I’m very happy with them, there are so many different styles these days you are spoilt for choice.”
The star-studded final will be held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on October 27.
The finalists will strut down the catwalk, facing a panel of industry experts including the Specsavers style ambassador and TV presenter, Gok Wan.
