Part of a popular walking trail has been fenced off after a rock slide.
Oldham Council officials are investigating after a slab of rock slid down from the rock face and came to rest at the base of Pingot Quarry, part of the Crompton Moor History Trail, just off Buckstones Road in Shaw.
Mark Alcock, cabinet member for environment and infrastructure and a councillor for Shaw ward, said: “The immediate area has been fenced off for safety and will remain there until the rock face has been investigated and its stability established.
“The rest of the quarry and Crompton Moor is open for the thousands of people who use it every week.
