OLDHAM Rugby League club are set for a very special lock-in next week, with fans getting in to the game free — but having to pay to get OUT of the ground.
The charge for “release” at the Co-operative Championship One match against London Skolars at Boundary Park next Thursday (7.30pm kick off) will be a minimum £1 and the proceeds are to be split between Link4Pink and Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Fans attending the game, which is being broadcast live on Sky, will be asked to wear something pink on the night and the Oldham players are planning to dye their hair the same colour.
“Given the recent results and happenings at the club, we felt it would be appropriate to let fans in for free, but charge them to get out,” explained Roughyeds chief executive Chris Hamilton.
“That way, we should raise a lot of money if we can get numbers into the ground in the first place.
“Seriously, the game has a very important meaning to all the people in Oldham and Rochdale who are affected by breast cancer and to all those patients who come under the care of the dedicated team at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.”
