Bingo and quiz to aid wash-out carnival
Date published: 31 July 2009
A FUND-RAISING bingo and quiz night will be held on Thursday to lend Failsworth Carnival a helping hand.
This year’s event on July 18 and 19 saw heavy rain make the Sunday a total washout.
The pouring rain meant only a very hardy 12 people attended which had a serious impact on Carnival coffers.
Each year, money raised by the event is distributed among community groups and voluntary organisations in the form of grants.
In an attempt to boost the final tally, the Windmill Pub, Lord Lane, have organised the bingo and quiz night starting 8.30pm.
The family event will see teams of four or six competitors take part in a fun quiz.
There will be a £100 bingo jackpot, and free chip butties.
Families with children are welcome and all money raised will go towards grants to help local good causes.
Enid Bell, Failsworth Carnival committee member, said: “These groups of volunteers work long and hard throughout the year providing activities for people of all ages in Failsworth.”
