Crunch rate relief
Date published: 31 July 2009
Small businesses have taken advantage of rate relief from Oldham Council to fight the credit crunch.
Last year over 1,000 small businesses were contacted to remind them of their right to apply for small business rate relief and were helped to take it up where applicable.
Councillor Lynne Thompson, cabinet member for finance and resources said: “The take up rate was an impressive 40 per cent, and the offer is still open.
“If any small business owner thinks they could be entitled to a rate reduction, the council will be very happy to advise.
“The council is committed to doing all it can to ensure that businesses are supported as much as possible.”
