WE’LL never forget . . . members of Oldham Sands come together at Chadderton Hall park
MUMS who have been affected by the loss of a baby came together in a poignant balloon release ceremony at Chadderton Hall Park.
Members of the Oldham branch of Sands, the Stillbirth and Neo-natal Death charity, come together each year for the balloon release to remember their loved ones and also meet once a month at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Wendy Pimblott, who runs the Oldham branch with Andrea Harrop, said: “I lost my first child in 2004 and understand how important it is to be able to speak to someone who has been through it, because no-one else can understand. The group provides a listening ear and anyone is welcome. We help grandparents and husbands as well.
“One woman who lost her baby 50 years ago has got in touch with us.
“We can point people in the direction of other support services and have books on all the different aspects of losing your baby.
“It’s also good to come to the group over time and see people further down the line. it makes you realise that you can move forward eventually.”
Anyone who would like to get in touch with the group, can call Wendy on 07906-438 001 or visit www.oldhamsands.co.uk.
