SGT Trevor Harrison from the Oldham West neighbourhood policing unit said concerns about drug activity in Werneth Park late at night were being tackled.
He told people at the Werneth People and Communities Together (PACT) meeting: “We did a week-long initiative and had a mobile police station set up with traffic patrols along Frederick Street and this resulted in a number of people being cautioned and arrested.
“We will continue with other operations in the areas to combat this problem.”
Councillor Fida Hussain said that drugs activity was taking place across the whole of Oldham and not just in Werneth Park.
Meanwhile, residents were promised they will see more services in the area to deter youths from drugs-related activity.
PCSO Taqeer Ahmed said he had been liaising with 146 Youth Centre on Werneth Hall Road, and the Werneth and Freehold Community Project.
Cathy Lingard, from youth services, also told residents that the Passport to Summer project will run 1,100 activities across venues in Oldham.PCSO Taqeer Ahmed said he had been liaising with 146 Youth Centre on Werneth Hall Road, and the Werneth and Freehold Community Project.
