Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 30-year-old woman who was found unconscious yesterday in Delph died a short time later in hospital.
Police discovered the woman in a lower ground floor flat under a building which houses the village post office in King Street at 2.30pm.
An ambulance rushed to the scene but the woman died in hospital.
An officer remained on duty at the scene all night as the flat was sealed off.
A villager, who did not want to be named, said: “There was a lot of police activity.
“Three police vans and a police car were originally at the scene. The steps to the place have been taped off.”
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said three men, a 29-year-old, and two 30-year-olds, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
