Every little helps for Dr Kershaw’s

STAFF at Tesco’s new superstore in Huddersfield Road have pledged support to a novel idea to support their chosen charity.
Workers have agreed to hunt in their wardrobes and rummage through their attics to find one item each month to donate to a charity shop.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Royton, has four shops which are continually on the look-out for new stock to sell.
And they are set to benefit from a national Donate, Don’t Dump campaign launched by Tesco to encourage support for local causes.
Caroline Dean, Community Champion at Tesco Oldham, has joined in the spirit of the campaign, and is urging fellow-staff to clear out their clutter to support the hospice.
The first collection is on Friday. Allegra Holbrook, from Dr Kershaw’s, has appealed to other Oldham firms to follow suit.
She added: “We are extremely grateful for the fantastic support that Tesco has shown us.
“Our charity shops are a vital source of the income that allows us to continue providing our services to the community.
“If each member of staff donates just one item they no longer need it will give our shops a valuable boost.”
Fund-raisers believe everyone in Oldham will have at least one item they have never used and don’t need.
“We all have something we have never worn, used or needed, and wouldn’t miss if we gave it away,” said Allegra, the hospice’s community fund-raiser.
Anyone who wants to join the campaign can drop items off at hospice shops in High Street, Lees, either of the two shops in Market Street, Shaw, or the new one in Royton precinct, market Square.
Companies who want to join the campaign can contact Allegra on 0161-624 9984 or e-mail her at allegra@drkershawshospice.org.uk.
