A SHAW woman has spoken of her horror after her grand-daughter was punched, bitten and stamped on in a brutal assault.
The 19-year-old victim was left in an unrecognisable state after thugs set about her with bricks and bottles, stamping on her face with such force that she was left with an imprint of a shoe on her forehead.
She was treated in hospital and is now recovering at home with swollen eyes and lips and bite marks to her face. The horror unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning in Ingleby Way, Shaw.
The woman, who did not wish to be identified, said: “I’m absolutely disgusted by what has happened. The things that some people are capable of is so frightening.
“They went at her like like a pack of animals.”
A police spokesman said: “At 5.40am on Friday, police were called by the ambulance service following reports that an 18-year-old girl had been assaulted.
“The girl was unconscious but breathing and has been taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital to be treated for a serious head injury.”
An 18-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm has been granted bail.
