Warning sign sparks police probe

A HUGE sign tied on to railings outside a Shaw care home has sparked a police investigation.
The home-made notice — warning of safety fears for a baby — appeared on Hopwood Court, facing houses on Assheton Road, High Crompton, shortly after 6am yesterday.
A shocked resident who called police said: “It said ‘Will baby C end up the same way as baby P — dead’. It was on a great big sheet printed in black letters.”
The woman, who did not want to be named, added: “I couldn’t believe it. You don’t realise that something could be going on under your nose and you know nothing about it.”
Police removed the sign and are investigating.
