Man attacked with baseball bats

A 26-YEAR-OLD man was left with a perforated eardrum and numerous fractures when he was brutally assaulted in Mossley.
The attack happened between midnight and 3am on Monday in Lees Road as the victim was walking to his car.
A dark-coloured car pulled up alongside him and four men wearing balaclavas got out, chased him then repeatedly struck him with baseball bats and kicked him in the head and body.
He suffered fractures to his ankle, thumb and finger and a laceration on his head required 10 stitches. All of the offenders were wearing dark clothing.
Det Con Karl Riley, from Tameside CID, said: “Nothing was stolen from the victim and it would appear to be a totally motiveless, and senseless, attack on this man.
“The level of brutality has left the victim with a number of nasty injuries and it is vital that witnesses come forward so we can piece together exactly what has gone on and why.
“This happened on quite a quiet street but it is possible someone saw something from their window or saw a dark car being driven in the area at the time.
“Any information, no matter how small, could be so important.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Tameside CID on 0161-856 9256 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
