POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a second person was arrested and bailed over the vicious assault of an 18-year-old woman.
The victim suffered nasty facial injuries after she was brutally attacked in Ingleby Way, Shaw, at 5.40am on Friday, July 31.
The teenager had been at a friend’s house and was walking home in the early hours when she was attacked by up to three women.
She was found unconscious but breathing and was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her face and head.
The woman sustained two black eyes, swelling and a bite mark on her arm but has since been discharged.
A 17-year-old girl has now joined an 18-year-old woman in being arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm. Both were bailed until August 27, pending further inquiries.
PC Mike Powell said: “Although this young woman has been injured, she is lucky she is not in a worse condition.
“With any sort of head injury, the consequences can be devastating.
“I want to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this assault to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
